Required Documents
Drivers License
Insurance Card
- Full name (Matches License)
- Effective date (in the past showing currently covered)
- Expiration date (in the future showing currently covered)
- Company name and Phone #
- Policy # ( and vin # preferred)
2 Proof of Residence Documents (See below)
Tax & Licensing:
MSO (needed for licensing) will not be released until we have received funds
- Finance: Deal is funded
- Paper Cash: Can be released within a day
- Wire Transfer: Funds have cleared our account (typically 2-3 business days)
Sale Tax may be collected at the time of sale depending on state regulations
California
Sales Tax: No Sales Tax to be collected(Customer will pay themselves)
Licensing: We will sell the customer up to 3 trip permits (1 permit = 3 days) $40 each
- MSO will be mailed direct to customer (after confirmation of funds)
Idaho
Sales Tax: Customer is responsible to pay direct to state when licensing the vehicle.
Licensing: We will sell the customer up to 3 trip permits (1 permit = 3 days) $40 each
- MSO will be mailed direct to customer (after confirmation of funds)
Montana
Sales Tax: No Sales Tax to be collected
Licensing: We will sell the customer up to 3 trip permits (1 permit = 3 days) $40 each

Oregon
Oregon residents must complete the Vehicle Use Tax process and we must print out the certificate here at the dealership during the purchase process. For more information about the Oregon Vehicle Use Tax please visit the Oregon Department of Revenue website.
Customer must fill out Use Tax Certificate at time of sale (customer pays for separately on card)

Shipping: While we would be happy to assist in the delivery of a vehicle to the Port of Tacoma, Port of Seattle or assist in meeting a trucking company in the greater Tacoma area. The cost of shipping would need to be arranged between the purchaser of the vehicle and the shipping company. Once the vehicle is dropped with the shipping company, Gilchrist Auto is no longer responsible for any damage to the vehicle.

Proof of Washington State Residence
Documents must include your first and last name, and current Washington residential address. You can't use 2 of the same documents (e.g. 2 vehicle registrations).
To prove you live in Washington State show us 2 documents from this list:
- A WA license, ID card, or IP, not expired more than 6 years.
- USPS change of address letter dated within 2 months.
- WA vehicle, vessel or utility trailer registration (not a temporary vehicle registration) – unexpired.
- WA vehicle, vessel, utility trailer, or mobile home title (not a super service title with a tamper proof tape over the VIN and title number).
- Cell phone bill dated within 2 months. Internet printouts ok.
- Electricity bill dated within 2 months. Internet printouts ok.
- Gas bill dated within 2 months. Internet printouts ok.
- Water/Sewer bill dated within 2 months. Internet printouts ok.
- Garbage/recycling bill dated within 2 months. Internet printouts ok.
- Landline telephone dated within 2 months. Internet printouts ok.
- Television bill (cable or satellite) dated within 2 months. Internet printouts ok.
- Internet bill dated within 2 months. Internet printouts ok.
- Washington school transcript or report card - current or previous school year.
- DSHS benefits letter indicating unexpired benefits (medical, food, etc.)s
- Tribal ID – unexpired.
- Proof of home ownership (mortgage documents, property tax documents, deed, title, online parcel viewer, etc.)
- Washington voter card.
- Selective Service card.
- Business mail from a federal or state agency, or a tribal, county, or city government entity dated within 2 months.
- Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) letter from Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
- Concealed weapons permit (license to carry concealed pistol) – unexpired.
- Home owners insurance policy – unexpired (not renters).
- Auto insurance policy – unexpired, or bill dated within 2 months.
- Consulate ID card– unexpired.
- Pay check or pay stub that also includes the employer's name & phone # or address - dated within 2 months.
- Professional license (nursing, physician, engineer, pilot, etc.) – unexpired and issued by Washington State or federal entity.
- W-2 form from an employer or 1099 issued from the previous year.
- Moorage document (bill or contract) showing that you live aboard a boat – unexpired.
- Senior housing, retirement home or assisted living facilities on company letter head with a phone number.
- US military document issued within 1 year.
- Marriage certificate – certified and issued from a government entity within 1 year.
