Problem: Power steering worked intermittently. Initially charged me ($200) diagnostic fee plus materials and tax ($247). Suggested a possible fix would be a new ($349) battery plus a ($200) installation fee. Total $796. Oh, technician reports he couldn’t find the problem. I paid the diagnostic fee and purchased a battery (plus free installation) elsewhere. Shame Gilchrist!!!

I was working with Haselwood in Bremerton. They could not get the car I wanted, so I went online to shop. Found the GMC at Gilcrest in Tacoma, The site I registered with for my search sold my lead to a tone of dealership's, call after call of obnoxious salespeople, I felt harassed. Tom MacDonald called, I felt he was the first human being to speak to me as a human. He was patient, understanding, repeated what we were looking for, we set an appointment, met the next day and bought the GMC Terraine within an hour. each person we met, was pleasant, no pressure. This is my wife's SUV. We had trouble with our Mercedes and sold it back to Larson, Fife. I was a customer there for 25 years and was treated like trash. We, my husband and I, went to Gilchrist Ford twice while searching for a new vehicle. We were looking for a sedan and had been to several other car dealerships and found nothing that I liked. When we pulled into Gilchrist, the Cacti Green Trax caught my eye. I am not an SUV girl but the Cacti Green Trax grabbed my attention and refused to let go. We spoke with a very kind Tom who tried his best to help us. I know that’s his job but it didn’t feel like that’s why he was doing it. When we decided to go back to take a second look and maybe purchase the Trax, we met Tim, Tom was not working that day. Where Tom was more relaxed, Tim was lively. We enjoyed his enthusiasm. He even called Tom to let him know we asked for him. Tom’s liveliness made our car buying experience one of the best we’ve ever had. We’re not young and have purchased a few so that’s a high compliment. I will recommend Gilchrist Chevrolet because of the car but mostly because of the excellent help we received while dealing with your company.

I brought my truck in for a check engine light related to the NOx2 sensor. The dealership had my truck for over a week because they broke a part during removal and the replacement was on backorder. When the repair was finally complete, no one contacted me as promised. I had specifically asked for text communication (since I can’t receive calls), but they called anyway and never followed up, so my truck sat there an extra 5 days. When I picked it up, the check engine light was still on. I was told I’d need to pay another $200+ for further diagnostics—even though it was the same issue I came in for. I took the truck to another certified mechanic who scanned the same code and said it didn’t even look like the NOx sensor had been replaced. I called and left a message for the service manager—no one ever got back to me. I’ve now spent over $2,000 and still have a check engine light. Very disappointed.

Hello, thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear about your experience with us. We did replace your Nox2 sensor per Mr. Price's request. Your vehicle had code P22FE in relation to Nox2 sensor fault. Diagnosis was recommended but declined. During the repair, when removing the old Nox2 sensor, threads were damaged due to heat and corrosion build up. This is a common issue and can happen over time. The service department did take care of this repair. Vanessa was told by Mr. Price to contact him when vehicle was ready for pick up and she did do that. Mr. Price spoke with Vanessa and she was told that the vehicle was okay to stay until you returned from out of town. Vanessa did do a quick scan when check engine light was on and found code P242D (exhaust gas temp sensor 3) and code P249D (showing an injection control concern). Diagnosis was recommended but declined. We did replace the Nox2 sensor and when the check engine light came back on, there was no longer a code for NOX2 sensor. The Fixed Op's Director called the same day that your voicemail was received. As instructed, he called you first. Mailbox was full so we called Mr. Price as you instructed if you did not answer. He did leave a message for Mr. Price to call back. If you have any further questions or concerns, you can contact our management team at 253.620.1900 ext 500. Thank you!

I called before setting up my appointment and asked if I could be billed for a diagnosis on my vehicle due to the fact I have a claim going on for repairs. And I cannot get my car repaired without it. I advised all repairs would be done there .The specialist informed me that would not be a problem I even gave contact info regarding my claim once I arrived to the appointment I was told the complete opposite. That I had to pay for my diagnosis that day. It was very misleading and I do not understand why it couldn't be billed with future repairs. I am honest and live with integrity. However I was told nothing could be done which I knew was false info.

The waiting area is significantly lacking. Apparently there is no remote for the tv, so the tv doesn't work. I was surprised nobody bought a new remote to resolve the issue. The seats are very worn and both waiting rooms were freezing. I was told the building doesn't heat that area properly, but I would expect a portable heater or something to warm it up when it's cold outside. Everyone there is really nice, I just didn't love the waiting area. Next time I will try to coordinate it so my husband can bring me home during my service.

I was super relieved to see Kristi who promptly processed my car into the service queue. At 11:30, she called with an update, and by 2:15 my car had the new part installed and was ready for pickup. Wow! And as outstanding as that was for timeliness, efficiency, and customer care, even better was to learn that Gilchrist Service/Kristi secured a significant reduction in the repair cost to me from GM for which I am deeply grateful. My experience was absolutely perfect. I would recommend Tim Wells for salesperson of the year. He wasn’t pushy, and was very patient in explaining all the new features on the car. After I got the car home I noticed some condensation in one of the headlights and both of the lower lights. I called Tim , and left a voicemail. I also sent photos via email. Tim called me back, answered all my questions and instructed me on how to proceed with a solution. Since there is a closer Chevrolet dealership nearby, he suggested I take my car there. He assured me that if there was a problem he’d stand by me. I’ve been running around telling all my friends about my experience with your dealership. M Freund.

2020 silverado 1500 duramax RST. 3 hours for a fuel filter and an oil change. $400 or so with tax. Upon getting the keys back and paying. The foot paper was still in the truck along with the service number, not a big deal. But, I noticed the leather seat on the drivers side had been scratched pretty bad (I assume on accident) by the tech who serviced the truck. Service manager has ordered a new seat cover. gave me back 10%. And offered a free oil change on my next visit. After a lot of negotiating on my part. I feel that he made it right. But I would have never spoke to a customer the way he did. It was extremely frustraiting to be talked to as if this was some how my fault. He was not someone I would want to deal with again. I will say Kristi the lady at the desk was very knowlegable and helpful. As was Talitha Scott the assistant service manager. They actually knew how to talk to a potential life long customer. This was my first time going there, and as long as I do not have to speak with the service manager again, I would consider returning. I am in a similar job to the service manager and I would never dream of speaking to one of my customers the way that he did.

Everyone was helpful and understanding you got my gratitude, but the only problem that I see was the trap on the proce giving to me, i went to the dealer for a cuota and was giving to me i did ask several times, if that was the proce for the changes dome to my vehicle, and I was told that the only missing was the taxes I requested on paper to make sure they would not forget and I was giving a business card with writing of the price + tax, I ask for the las time if that was the price and he said yes. Went i call to make and appointment i ask again if that was the price and they said that it was , went for the replacement and went i got the invoice was totally different, it went from 470+tax to 650+ or - with taxes i have to fight it to get the price down, it did not went down to the price giving but it did significant, have show the pice a paper that was giving to me. The way de dealer trap people into the price it's disgusting and horrible in this time of need.

All the employees were great to work with very pleasant and professional. I had a dash cam installed and it only worked for four or five days and then it lost power. I called to have it checked. I don’t know if the installation was bad or if the camera is bad, but now I have to wait another 10 days to have you guys look at it. I think I should take precedence where this is a follow up visit in the install didn’t work.

I was recommended to come to Gilchrist by a coworker. He specifically wanted me to see Lloyd. I am so glad I did. He told me that the next time I needed to buy a car I wouldn’t need to worry because he would treat me well, find me the best rate, the best options and even if I found a used car somewhere else, he would be able to probably get me a better deal on a new car with Gilchrist. So I knew I needed to go see you. After my hit n run accident I had a concussion and knew if at any time I needed to be treated well this was it. Thankfully your team is so good at what they do and took such good care of me at a vulnerable time.
